Controller at ACAC Charlottesville – Charlottesville, Virginia

ACAC is seeking a strategic, hands-on Controller to oversee daily accounting operations, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and maintain strong internal controls. This role will manage financial operations, implement process improvements, and support the company’s continued growth in a fast-paced environment. This is a high-impact in-person role suited for someone who thrives in an on-site work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and maintain accounting records, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Monitor and manage cash flow to support operational and strategic objectives.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
• Supervise and develop accounting team members; provide leadership and performance management.
• Partner with the VP of Finance on financial strategy, reporting, budgeting, and special projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation (preferred).
• Experience in a corporate accounting or public accounting firm.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and present financial information clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and integrity.
• Experience with accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics, Sage or similar EPS systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
