About This Position

The Human Resources/Benefits Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping an exceptional employee experience. This position manages key HR operations—including compensation and benefits administration, HRIS optimization, and benefits compliance—while also contributing to broader initiatives such as recruitment, professional development, employee engagement, and performance management. Working in close partnership with Finance and supporting the Senior Vice President, HR, Compliance & EEO, this individual helps implement forward‑thinking HR and benefits strategies that strengthen the organization’s culture and operational effectiveness.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring timely communication with the Finance team.
  • Manage benefit billing and payment processes, reconcile bills, and collaborate with providers, brokers, and Finance to resolve discrepancies.
  • Research and resolve employee payroll and benefits concerns, serving as a thoughtful and knowledgeable resource.
  • Support open enrollment by coordinating system setup, reviewing materials, scheduling meetings, addressing employee questions, and monitoring vendor feeds.
  • Develop, document, and maintain administrative procedures for all assigned benefits functions.
  • Process deductions—including garnishments, salary updates, and tax changes—with precision and submit updates to Finance for timely remittance.
  • Conduct analysis of benefit offerings and vendors, and generate benefit and payroll reports to support decision‑making.
  • Assist in the rollout of new benefits programs by drafting forms, policies, procedures, and updating the HRIS accordingly.
  • Support talent acquisition efforts by updating job descriptions, posting roles, revising interview questions, and coordinating interview schedules.
  • Manage all aspects of background check processing and reporting.
  • Facilitate the new hire onboarding process, including electronic file creation, I‑9 completion, and E‑Verify processing.
  • Gather employee bios and photos for internal and external platforms, ensuring staff profiles remain current and updating platforms as needed.
  • Respond to employment verification requests and professional reference inquiries.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and compliant electronic employee files and filing systems.
  • Coordinate staff recognition programs, including years‑of‑service awards, and assist with planning staff events and monthly meetings.
  • Support the learning management system by running reports, tracking training completion, and assigning training modules.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations, including posting and distributing required notices and preparing benefits‑related tax filings.
  • Assist in the performance review cycle by configuring the HRIS, tracking submissions, and compiling analyses.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding employee information and organizational initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact in the absence of the Senior Vice President, HR, Compliance & EEO.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support HR operations and organizational goals.

Education, prior work experience, and specialized skills and knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with HRIS platforms
  • 2–4 years of progressive HR experience
  • Experience with ADP strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices
  • Ability to follow established guidelines while managing a diverse workload
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and comfort working independently
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
