Job Description:

The candidate will support the Materials Engineering Branch at Goddard Space Flight Center working in the Mechanical Testing Laboratory and other laboratories as required. Daily work assignments include structural component testing, test fixture design and fabrication, test instrumentation setup, data collection and analysis, and report generation. Assignments come from all projects at Goddard Space Flight Center and include both ground-based and flight hardware.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent with 5-10 years’ experience working in a laboratory environment, knowledge of laboratory safety, the ability to work without direction and maintain highly precise laboratory equipment, and the required skills to analyze test data and effectively present the results. Previous work experience at Goddard Space Flight Center is preferred.

All candidates must meet the 22 CFR 120.15 definition of U.S. Persons.

The candidate must possess a keen understanding of and experience with CAD software, standard computer spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software packages. Excellent written and communication skills are required.
